Doug Lifts Bans, Admits Gene Was BanMaster

Doug posted to Gene's blog today that he is removing all previous banishments. Kudos to Doug.

However, what I still find very disturbing is that Doug also said that Gene Chapman was the one banning people all along. Worse, Gene doesn't even take personal responsibility for this behavior, and instead let everybody blame it on Doug.

No blog should ever ban anyone from commenting. This is especially true when the blog is a "campaign" blog for a guy running for president, and even more so when that same candidate berates everyone else constantly for doing exactly what he does himself. I don't even ban spammers from my blogs, and anyone can comment anonymously if they so choose. I only have a word verification tool, to keep spambots from overwhelming the blogs with advertisements.

Gene should bear in mind that the questions he's getting now about his background, which infuriate him so much, are nothing compared to the level of scrutiny he will face if and when he ever makes it out of the blogosphere, and into the mainstream. Based on the amount of information I have garnered about Gene's real background, in my spare time and for my own curiosity and amusement, one can only imagine how much more information I'd get if I ever decided to really investigate him, since that is after all what I do for a living. While I don't think Gene or his candidacy is newsworthy, other journalists may disagree. Gene needs to be prepared for that, and the best way to prepare himself is to field questions on his blog.

Hey, I tried to warn him that these questions would come up, back when he first started that blog. He chose not to listen, and now he's dealing with the completely predictable fallout of that decision.

That being said, I want to make clear that I am not any of the people asking those questions about Gene. I don't know who they are, but I still knew it would happen. Too many people have been laughing at Gene's antics for too long, for a presidential campaign to go unnoticed by his critics.

I was actually thinking about making an anti Doug blog.

When pressed for a legitimate answer all he can do is post quotes from American patriots. Worst part is the quotes are out of context.

According to Doug, Gene wants me on his radio show.

I wonder why.

I think an anti-Doug blog would be pretty funny. If you start one, post the link here.

After a great deal of consideration, since I abhor the idea of deleting comments unless they're purely spam, I have deleted a comment posted in this thread last night.

An anonymous poster made a number of specific accusations against Gene, formed as statements of fact about which they allegedly have personal knowledge. However, many of the more inflammatory accusations made cannot be substantiated, so the comment has been removed from this blog.

Anonymous, if you feel your statements are true, and if you feel you can back them up, perhaps you should post them on Gene's blog, or make a blog of your own.
